Trying to sell your home? Try Green Upgrades
“Going green” is no doubt a buzz phrase these days. Doesn’t seem like you can avoid it, and every industry is trying to jump on the band wagon and become more “green.” All in all, I think it’s a great idea. Saving the earth and conserving resources is tough to argue against, but the constant green wave gets a bit overwhelming.
If you’re trying to sell your home, and not just in the Gig Harbor, WA, area, making some “green” upgrades may be the ticket. Although real estate sales are picking up in Gig Harbor (more on this on Monday), the reality is that there are still 100’s of homes on the market, and your home better be what buyers are looking for or priced so low that they can make it what they’re looking for, or it’s going to be a tough sell. Well, buyers today are looking for energy efficient homes. I’d encourage you to read this article to hear some numbers and some pretty easy, cost-effective upgrades you can make to your home to make it more energy efficient, either to prep it for sale or simply to make it better for yourself.
My wife and I just added a 14-SEER heat pump to our house. My main motivation was the anticipated 40-50% energy cost savings, but I’m completely sold on the A/C feature after these past two weeks! Last year, if it was high 70’s outside, it was unbearable inside. This year, low 90’s outside, and a very comfortable 70 inside! The house that I have listed for sale on Siler Lane has some amazing “green features” such as two tankless water heaters, a heat pump, and Energy Star appliances. If you’re in the market for a luxury green home in Gig Harbor, you’ll want to take a look at this one.
If you are in the Gig Harbor area and wanting to sell your home, read this article and give me a call. I’d love to discuss what these upgrades may mean for you and what you can expect when selling in this market.
