Blackberry season is coming to Gig Harbor!

Posted by Matt Thomson

I was out taking some photos yesterday and took this artsy little shot:
Blackberry boat

Although the photo is pretty, the best part is the reminder that blackberries will soon be ripe for the picking all around Gig Harbor.  Blackberry bushes in your backyard can be a pain…they’re really hard to get rid of and they hurt (see the thorns?).  Blackberry picking is great, though.  My favorite spot is at Sunrise Beach.  Any other favorite spots to pick?

Where’s my Brush Be Gone…they are taking over! Good fruit but lousy ground cover…:)

MARK–You’re right about that! We brought in a BobCat and plowed them out at our last house we lived in. They’re really good…when they’re on someone else’s land.

LARRY–There are some great ones out there. I usually don’t go that far, but it’s a gorgeous place with some great fruit.
