I read that article. A new shopping center twice the size of the Uptown Center. One nice thing is they won't have to clear cut anything to build...it's already just asphalt. Hopefully they take a clue from the response thus far to Uptown and bring in a few "regular" retailers as well, and not just another upscale mall.
We'll see!

Panera has been pretty good both times that I went, have you ever tried a latte there? The best soup is the Potatoe one. Suzzane's makes a great Strawberry cream cake if you are into desserts. Don't fret there is an article in the paper about building a shopping, hotel, restaurants, type of place over where the Ford & Chevy Dealerships were. This is supposed to be bigger than the uptown, we are supposed to get an upscale retailer in there as well, whatever that means......

I would totally agree with your assessment of both places. I think this town is lacking a really good place for soup & sandwiches. Is there anything in the harbor? Uptown really needs a Marie Calendars-type place.

We too tried Panera a month or so after it opened. Gave it a second try...both times we were disappointed with the quality of the food and the overall cleanliness of the rest. The bagels are good however. You cant beat Suzanne's downtown for the best sandwich in town. We go there often and during the summer we row our little craft to Jerisich, walk down to Suzanne's to pick up lunch and row out the the lighthouse sand spit to enjoy. Also, the soup of the day is always excellent! Never been disappointed!
