How’s the weather in Gig Harbor?

Posted by Matt Thomson

A question that I hear all the time…”How’s the weather in Gig Harbor?”  People email me about the weather, they call me and ask about the weather, I was even waiting to confirm an online payment the other day and the operator asked me about the weather.  I told him it was sunny and beautiful.  “Aren’t you near Seattle?” he asked.  “I thought it was always rainy there.”

Right.  Gig Harbor’s weather is always gray and depressing.  I thought I would post some photos here, the first taken this afternoon off of my deck, that show our winter weather.  I guess there’s no way for you to check on me, but these are all taken in the winter, and none are touched up.  Is it like this always?  No.  It rains a lot here.  But the photos with the clouds and sun…that’s the most typical.

Just returned to UT from 4 days in Gig Harbor … we did see rain, but saw some plenty of sunshine, as well. It was beautiful, and not too cold. Walking along the harbor last Sunday was delightful. We came back to COLD and snow, not nearly as pleasant as Gig Harbor!

I am so glad to hear that! As a soon-to-be SoCal transplant, I worry a lot about adjusting to the weather. See you at the end of March, just in time for Spring!

I have been in the harbor for 15 years. We have our share of not so nice weather, but we have our share of great weather as well. The summers that have been great. The climate is just about right, sure we get the rain in the fall and winter, we are the evergreen state!

The flowers start some of blooming as early as February. I like the summers we have a mixture of comfortable days and down right hot ones. It all evens out.

i AM a socal transplant, and i absolutely love it here. there is a lot of diversity in the weather (some rain, some sun, some snow…), and i think that is nice! gig harbor is paradise to me, and one of the reasons i like this blog is b/c you think so too! :)

Left the Bay Area in Northern California many years ago…I still miss the weather down there but that is it. Gig Harbor is a BEAUTIFUL place to live and I believe the nicest spot in the Pac. Northwest! I have lived in Seattle, Bellevue, and Silverdale. I travel the Northwest for business including Idaho, Montana, Oregon and B.C. It is a one way trip out of the golden state but worth it for a better quality of life. (and more affordable!) I think California may be facing a brain drain…The winters are sometimes rough up here but getting out of dodge once in a while helps…

P.S. Matt thanks for keeping up the blog and the awesome pics!
