Gig Harbor Uptown Center taking shape

Posted by Matt Thomson

Gig Harbor’s Uptown Center, located on Point Fosdick drive just south of the Safeway shopping mall, is really starting to take shape.  The new Borders Bookstore has been open for a few weeks now, and it has been joined now by Chico’s clothing store, Coldwater Creek clothing, and Panera Bread.  Jamba Juice is very close to being open, and the rest of this outdoor mall is rapidly taking shape.

Perhaps most exciting will be the opening of the new Galaxy Theaters, set to open in March of ‘08.  This 10-screen complex is much needed in Gig Harbor, which currently only has a 3 screen complex that is quite outdated.

Approximately 35 stores are set to be housed in the Uptown Center when it is completed.  Imagine, dinner at Panera, a movie at the theater, then dessert at Ben and Jerry’s.  Sounds like a great evening out in Gig Harbor!

Gig Harbor is getting so high class any more. Uptown, Downtown.
Pretty soon there will be Crosstown. I guess I need to come see more often!

We are pretty high class! It’s a world away from Puyallup for such a short drive. We’re getting a lot of people complaining about the construction here, but all it takes for me is a quick trip down Meridian or Canyon to want to come back home!
What you have that we’ll never be able to compete with is the Fair! What a great event that is every year!

    Hi!

I’m enjoying your web-site; very well done!

I have a question maybe you can answer for me. Rumor has it that a Cheesecake Factory is in the plans for the Uptown Center; have you heard anything about that? A wonderful idea! My daughter works for John L Scott, but has heard nothing —maybe you can “scoop” her!
    Thanks!

Thanks, I’m enjoying maintaining the site. I would love the opportunity to “scoop” a JLS agent and show the Keller Williams advantage, but alas, I know little if any more than your daughter (JLS Gig Harbor is a great company, by the way).
I know that a “major” restaurant chain will be locating there, but it won’t be announced for at least another month. Cheesecake Factory would be a good guess, but I’ve heard several others as well.
I’ll be sure to post it as soon as I hear!

The first Cheesecake Factory in Utah opened in Salt Lake City about a month ago. I haven’t been there yet, but was amazed, when watching the news coverage, to see that folks lined up for blocks for its grand opening!! Your new Uptown Center and nearby residents should prepare for some traffic jams if the Cheesecake Factory does, indeed, open there!
